Another Successful Sweep of the Village

The Village looks good for Easter.

Another successful sweep of the village took place on Wednesday 10th April thanks to Cherwell District Council sending a road/path cleaning team in additional to Harry with his sweeper lorry. Also thank you to everyone who moved their cars to facilitate a clean sweep.

Happy Easter.

VILLAGE FUN DAY INVITE – RSVP

VILLAGE FUN DAY IS SUNDAY 2nd JULY 2-5pm

The village fun day is free for all and organised by the community for people living in the parish plus any friends and family. Come and join your friends and neighbour’s in the field accessed via the top of Cherry Close, for an old fashioned simple village get-together at no cost to you.

The marquee will be put up and straw bales provided. As in previous years you are welcome to bring your own refreshments but this year soft drinks, wine and beer will be available plus a cake stall and ice cream.

There’ll be music throughout the afternoon orchestrated by our very own Mike Gore and organised games for children and adults to include: Musical Statues, Head & Tails, 3-Legged Races, Egg & Spoon race, Bash the Rat and of course the best of three Tug O’Wars.

Simply turn up and join in the fun.

Set up is on Sunday 2nd at 10am so we need as many volunteers as possible for an hour or two to put up the marquee

Register for Priority Services to get benifits during power cuts

It’s that time of year when power cuts occur and they can be particularly distressing and difficult, especially if they last for a long period of time. Scottish and Southern Electricity are offering extra help and support to those who need it most and all you have to do is register with them.

The Parish Council has put  a Resilience programme in place for the village to take affect in the event of an identified emergency and has agreed to distribute one of their leaflets which enable you to register for their priority services. Anyone requiring help to fill out the form should simply contact one of the Parish Councillors listed on this website. You can also register by phoning Scottish & Southern directly on 0800 294 3259.

You can join the Scottish & Southern Register if you, or someone in your household:

  • Has a disability
  • Has a chronic illness
  • Is of pensionable age
  • Is blind or partially sighted
  • Is deaf or hard of hearing
  • Has another type of special need
  • Has had a change is personal circumstances (e.g a bereavement or divorce)

Keep in touch with village news

If you live in the village or are a resident of the wider community, why not give us your email address so we can keep you informed of news and up coming events.

Most things are published on the notice board in the village but it is not always convenient to regularly check it out, so here’s an easy way to stay informed. Just fill in your details at the bottom of this page.

Christmas Tree Lights Up

If you haven’t seen it yet, take a walk around into Mill Road and admire the lovely Christmas tree supplied by the Christmas Barn and kindly put up by Jeremy Adams. Our thanks go to Mr & Mrs Papenfus for once again agreeing to supply electricity to the tree.

Another Sweeping Success of the roads

Thanks to everyone who moved their cars and swept leaves out into the roads on 7th December. The best village cooperation and participation yet!

Cherwell District Council sent their road team to support the sweeper vehicle and did a great job particularly in Church Street and Cherry Street where the leaves were particularity dense. We  consider ourselves to be very lucky to get this level of attention as resources are very limited and few villages get this treatment. So thanks CDC.

A few photos showing work in progress and only a handful of cars on the roads.

Road Leaf Sweeping Wednesday 7th December

This is to let everyone in the village know that we have arranged for Cherwell District Council to sweep the roads of Stratton Audley on Wednesday 7th December from 8am.  It was originally 30th November but the lorry broke down and the date had to be moved back one week.

A clean-up at this time  of year is particularly important with so many fallen leaves. If you are able, please sweep as much into the gutters, in advance for the lorry to sweep up.

It would be greatly appreciated if cars parked on the streets could be moved for a short time so that the road sweeping lorry has clear access to the gutters. On previous occasions where we have coordinated our efforts it has worked very well with cars being moved for a short period and other put onto the grass verges.

Thanks for your continued cooperation.
